How does shipment tracking work with LetMeShip?

Once you have booked your shipment after comparing prices, you will receive a tracking number! These are the four most important tracking status messages – from the start of the shipment to delivery to the recipient.

You will receive the message ‘Info’ in the tracking status. This means that your shipment has been booked, but the goods have not yet been collected by the selected carrier. Make sure your goods are clearly visible and ready for collection by the carrier.

In Progress: Picked up (= picked-up)

Your shipment has been booked and collected by the selected carrier. Your goods are on their way to their destination. You will also receive this message if your shipment is in transit within the country or in transit in the country of destination.

In Progress: On its way

If you receive this message, your shipment is on its way and you do not need to take any further action.
Depending on where you are importing from, transit times can be long. This also increases the number of On Way status messages in the carrier’s tracking system, which documents every step your goods take (from depot to depot, customs, etc.).

This is the most important message for you. There are several reasons why a shipment may be ‘On Hold’. The most common reasons are

Recipient not found

The carrier may deliver your shipment outside of business hours, or the recipient may not be present at the time of delivery. In this case, the status will remain ‘On Hold’ until the shipment is delivered. The courier will usually try to deliver your goods the next working day, so you do not need to do anything.

Damaged goods

If your goods have been damaged in transit, you will also receive an ‘On Hold’ status message here in Track & Trace. The message will always include a link to the carrier’s status messages for more information. If you are unable to interpret the carrier’s cryptic status messages, your shipping partner’s customer service team is always available by phone.

If you booked through a shipping platform, the quickest way to make a complaint is online.
If urgent action is required, you can also rest assured that the carrier or your shipping partner’s customer service team will contact you directly.

Goods in customs for inspection

If your shipment is in the customs process, you will often receive the message ‘On Hold’. This can happen for many reasons. For example, a customs inspection usually takes 1-2 days before the shipment is forwarded, and the status will remain ‘On Hold’ until then. You do not need to do anything.

However, you may be asked to provide additional customs documentation, you may be asked to provide missing information, or you may be asked to pay a customs fee. In the case of an import, customs duties are usually paid by the importer. In this case, you should act as quickly as possible.

If you booked through the shipping platform, you will be contacted directly by customer service.

Finished: Delivered: Ok

You will receive this message when your shipment has arrived.

Finished delivered Late & Finished Delivered Damaged

You will receive this message if the delivery is delayed or the goods arrive damaged. In this case, you can request a full or partial refund, depending on the carrier. The quickest way to make a claim is directly through the booking platform. Here you can provide the necessary information and upload photos. The refund will then be credited to your customer account.

FAQ Shipment Tracking

Tracking can be carried out in real time for all carriers via the shipping platform, such as dpd shipment tracking, FedEx shipment tracking, UPS shipment tracking, DHL shipment tracking and many local courier and parcel services depending on your country. Please check country pages which carriers are available.

With international shipment tracking, you enter your tracking number and use Track & Trace to track your shipment abroad, regardless of which carrier you have booked. This means you can always keep an eye on your parcel via China shipment tracking and the US.

In global B2B business, transparent shipment tracking plays a central role in enabling informed decisions. If you do not ship with LetMeShip, each shipping provider has its own wording when it comes to status updates. We have standardised the status updates of all our shipping partners.

Smart shipment tracking in international shipping – your advantages:

  • Clearer communication: Standardised status updates make it easier to understand the shipment process quickly and independently of the respective transport company.
  • Easier data evaluation: Standardised information across all service providers enables a direct comparison of shipping performance and helps you make data-based decisions to optimise transport processes.
  • Better overview for customers: Even with different transport service providers, companies and their customers always have an overview of incoming deliveries – for an all-round better user experience.

LetMeShip tracking applies to the tracking of parcels, documents and pallets. Tracking is not available for special service shipments or shipments made by a freight forwarder. In this case, we will track the shipment for you as the link to the freight forwarder.

Immediately after collection by the carrier you have commissioned, it can sometimes take a little while for your shipment to appear in the tracking. There is no need to worry, as you will be automatically informed by email in the event of any problems or delays. You can also add additional email addresses, such as the recipient’s, so that everyone involved is kept up to date.
