What is a shipping service provider?
A shipping service provider (also called carrier) – at LetMeShip we refer to them as carriers – is a company that transports shipments from the sender to the recipient: from collection through transport to delivery, whether domestically or internationally.
Which shipping service providers are there?
In the LetMeShip countries, DHL Express, UPS, DPD and FedEx dominate the market, supplemented by country-specific carriers such as Chronopost, Correos, Österreichische Post and DSV (freight) – depending on the country. Through LetMeShip, business customers can compare over 20 carriers, including DHL Express, UPS and FedEx.
Which is the cheapest shipping provider?
That depends on the shipment profile: the destination country, weight, dimensions and urgency determine which carrier is the cheapest for a specific shipment. There is no single carrier that is always the cheapest – which is why it’s worth comparing prices for each individual shipment. With LetMeShip, prices can be viewed even before registration.
Is TNT the same as FedEx?
Yes. On 30 October 2026, we will be phasing out TNT as a separate shipping option, though the transport networks behind it will remain. TNT will then be fully part of FedEx.
What is the difference between a shipping provider, a parcel service and a CEP service?
CEP stands for courier, express and parcel services and is the technical term for the entire industry. A parcel service specialises in standard parcel deliveries, whilst a courier service specialises in fast, direct delivery. ‘Shipping service provider’ and ‘carrier’ are the umbrella terms for all providers that transport shipments.
Which shipping provider is best for business customers?
For business customers, the key factor is which carrier suits their specific shipping profile: international express shipments favour DHL Express or FedEx; standard shipping favours DPD; pallet shipments favour DSV, DHL Freight or FedEx; and overnight deliveries in Germany favour DER KURIER.
