International air cargo with leading global freight companies

Particularly for international shipping, transport by air offers a number of advantages: generally high security standards, short transit times over long distances and the precise, to-the-minute organisation of international flight operations, which almost completely eliminates delays or disruptions. Ideal for particularly time-critical or valuable goods!

Air freight services with reliable CEP service providers

Many CEP service providers and air freight forwarders operate their own cargo airlines and have access to a large transportation network. This means that secure supply chains can be organised in a more crisis-resistant way with air freight than with other modes of transport. FedEx, UPS and DHL are among the world’s leading air freight carriers. They all have an extensive global network and offer reliable services for the delivery of time-sensitive goods to maintain the supply chain.

Demand for air cargo services is constantly increasing

Air freight is booming: in the last 20 years, the volume of freight handled worldwide at airports has risen significantly. A distinction is made between belly freight — the additional load in normal passenger aircraft — and transport in special cargo aircraft. In both cases, specific requirements regarding permissible quantities, dimensions and, in particular, packaging must be observed.

How is volumetric weight calculated?

In air freight, it’s all about space. Each parcel takes up space on board, and it is this volume that often determines the price.

Formula: (Length × Width × Height) / 6000

For example, 60 × 40 × 40 cm = 16 volumetric kilograms, even if the parcel only weighs 10 kg. Understanding this rule will help you optimise your packaging and reduce your costs.

FAQ

Questions and answers about air freight

Sending air freight: What are the requirements for cargo size?

The permissible dimensions are based on the size of the aircraft hold – from just 86 cm in a Boeing 737 to 3 metres in a Boeing 747 F. However, all aircraft have the same packaging requirements: packaging must be designed to withstand impacts of three times the cargo weight as well as acceleration and vibrations of up to 500 hertz. Added to this are the stresses caused by stacking different pieces of cargo.

How can a multi-carrier platform support me with my international air freight?

Compare prices and discover flexible shipping options

We offer various shipping methods with different transit times, prices and services. After you have registered for free, simply select the option that best suits your requirements. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our customer service team. As with all our services, we offer door-to-door delivery to (almost) any destination in the world.

Multicarrier also means that you can control your shipment at any time and, if necessary, rebook flexibly at short notice.

Automation thanks to multi-carrier

The multi-carrier shipping platform lets you book and manage all your shipments in one place. Routine tasks such as creating shipping orders, generating shipping labels and tracking shipments are built into the system and are intuitive to use. This allows you to better manage your logistics processes, saving you time and money.

Shipping solutions for all requirements – not just air cargo services

Whether you need to send important documents quickly, want to send a parcel cheaply or need to transport bulky pallets – at LetMeShip you will find not only air cargo shipping but also many other shipping services for pallets and documents. Take a look at our special services. There you will find many alternatives for fast shipping, although air cargo is the most efficient solution with regard to transit time.

For clients for whom air freight services are out of the question we do offer other shipping options, such as sea freight or direct delivery or even on-board couriers for the import and export of goods.

When should I not send my goods by air freight?

Although air freight transport is possible for heavy or bulky industrial goods, it is extremely expensive and complicated. Sea freight transport can be a possible alternative for goods that are not time-critical. It is cheaper but takes considerably longer. Depending on the destination country, the average delivery time can be between 18 and 20 days.

It is often a combination of different transport routes to maintain your supply chain.

Please note that we do not offer Sea Freight in every country.

Can dangerous goods be shipped with an air freight service?

The shipment of dangerous goods is generally subject to strict regulations. In principle, shipment is possible with any means of transport. However, transporting dangerous goods by air carries poses the greatest risk and is therefore subject to even stricter regulations and quantity limits, which are summarised in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
