Pallet shipping

Pallet shipping rates depend on four things: the dimensions and weight of your pallet, the route, whether you need standard or express delivery, and surcharges such as a tail lift or a delivery point without a loading bay. Full pallets cost more than half pallets, and international shipments add customs handling. You need to have a customer account with LetMeShip. Register for free, enter your sender and recipient addresses, as well as the desired pallet shipping service provider, weight and dimensions of your pallet. By clicking on ‘Compare prices’, the shipping costs calculator will automatically show you all available pallet delivery companies, including prices. You will also always be shown the delivery time for your pallet transport.

After you have booked your pallet delivery via LetMeShip, we also wish to make the collection easy as possible for you and the freight forwarder. That’s why you’ll be directly asked in the booking process whether your pickup requires a forklift and if the pallets are stackable or not. A Euro pallet measures 80 × 120 × 15 cm. It can carry up to 1,500 kg and weighs between 20 and 24 kg. A pallet that exceeds these maximum dimensions is not stackable. In this case, please contact our special service. The loading height of a Euro pallet is between 1.80 and 2.20 metres, and the pallet’s own height of approx. 15 cm is included in the total height.

A half pallet measures 80 x 60 cm and is the right choice if your goods fit on it — you only pay for the space you actually use. A full pallet measures 80 x 120 cm and takes correspondingly more. Both formats are priced in the shipping calculator before you book, and both are collected and delivered by our partner carriers nationwide and worldwide. For loads larger than a full pallet, ask us for an individual offer.

To ship a pallet from Germany to the US, a business enters pallet dimensions, weight and goods value on LetMeShip and compares quotes from over 20 carriers and forwarders. Pallet shipments to the US require an export declaration and a commercial invoice with HS code; the customs assistant creates the customs invoice from the booking data.

Along with the prices, the shipping portal also shows you the delivery times of the individual providers – the choice is yours. For time-critical freight we recommend booking an express service, which has shorter transit times.

You can also use the shipment tracking function to check the status of your pallet in real time. Make sure that all required shipping information and documents are correct and complete, and state during booking whether the pickup or delivery point needs a forklift or tail lift — a collection that fails on site costs more time than any express surcharge saves.

Secure stacking is what protects a pallet in transit. Distribute the weight evenly, place the heaviest items at the bottom and keep the load within the pallet footprint — anything overhanging the edge is damaged first.

Wrap the load tightly with stretch film, use edge protectors on the corners and strap heavy or uneven loads to the pallet itself. Individually wrapped fragile goods survive handling better, whether they travel on a pallet or as a large parcel. Remove old labels, attach the new shipping documents where they stay visible, and state during booking whether your pallets are stackable so the carrier can plan the loading.

Basic carrier liability is included when you book a pallet shipment. It is calculated by weight rather than by the value of your goods, so for a high-value load it is rarely sufficient on its own — in that case add cover for the declared value during booking. Cover and cost vary by shipping service provider.
